Aim:
Manufacturing and logistics are facing ongoing transformational changes. The introduction of new
technologies and the advances in equipment intelligence capability are having profound effects on
production and logistics in practice. New solutions for manufacturing and logistics are evolving to
respond to various needs. In particular, production and services are transformed from vertically
integrated firms for product-based business into virtual collaborations of horizontal modular partners,
while huge amounts of data are increasingly accumulated due to business integration. Soft computing
and decision technologies are being developed to analyze data and to generate intelligent algorithms
that enable automated manufacturing and logistics systems to control work flow, material flow, and
information flow of the global supply chain networks. By seamless integration of intelligence and
decision technologies, Intelligent Manufacturing & Logistics Systems have been completely changing
the way we manage our factories, logistics, outsourcing, and supply chain networks. This special
issue aims to address the critical issues involved in Intelligent Manufacturing and Logistics.
Scope:
Original, high quality papers and empirical research papers with scientific novelty are invited to
address this subject. The technology herein refers to both hard technologies and soft technologies.
with a focus in the applications of the techniques of optimization techniques, decision analysis,
decision support systems, genetic Algorithms and evolutionary computation, meta heuristics, fuzzy
logic, and other techniques to the subject of the special issue. The topics include, but are not
restricted to the following aspects of Intelligent Manufacturing and Logistics:
• Containers, Seaports & Railways
• Data Mining and Soft Computing
• Distribution Planning
• Equipment real time decision for
e-manufacturing
• Environment Management
• Logistics Network Design and Logistics
Systems
• Intelligent Manufacturing & Management
• Inventory & Warehouse Management
• Process Planning & Management
• Group Technology & FMS
• Reverse Logistics
• Supply Chain Design & SCM
• Sustainable Development
• Vehicle Routing & Scheduling
